Print station¶
/{slug}/radmin/print-station (and the Settings → Print station tab) —
kitchen ticket and bill printing.
How it works¶
The printer connects to Resto4 itself from your network and asks “is there work for me”. You do not install software on a restaurant PC or configure a static IP. Supported family: Star CloudPRNT.
The sequence: an order is approved → the ticket enters the queue → the printer picks it up on its own poll → prints → reports completion.
Setup¶
- Generate and copy the printer address (secret URL) from the page.
- Enter that address as the CloudPRNT server in the printer's own settings interface.
- On its first connection the printer appears in the list as unassigned; it is recognised by its MAC address.
- Give the printer a role:
| Role | What it prints |
|---|---|
| Kitchen | Kitchen tickets |
| Bill | Guest receipt / bill |
| All | Both |
| Unassigned | Nothing |
- Optionally add a label (“Kitchen — hot section”).
An unassigned printer receives no work
A device that knows the address can add itself to the list, but it will not receive a single ticket until you give it a role. If you see a MAC you do not recognise, do not assign a role and regenerate the address.
Regenerating the address¶
Regenerate the address if it has leaked or if you want to cut off an old device. This disconnects every current printer: you must enter the new address on each one. Do not do it during service.
The print queue¶
The queue on the page shows which job printed, which is waiting and which failed. Failed jobs can be retried.
If a job keeps failing: does the printer have paper, is the cover closed, is it on the network — check in that order.
Working without a printer¶
Without printing hardware, tickets can be opened as PDF: a signed-in staff member opens the print job's link and gets the ticket as a PDF, which can be printed on an ordinary office printer if needed. That is how a small business starts without buying a thermal printer.
Common questions¶
The printer does not appear in the list. Check that it can reach the address (network/internet) and that the address was entered completely and correctly.
Nothing prints although the printer is listed. Its role may be “unassigned”; also, a kitchen ticket is only created when an order is approved.
Tickets print twice. Both printers may have the “all” role; make one kitchen and the other bill.
