Users and roles¶
Roles¶
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything: settings, staff, permissions, payments, accounting, transfer |
| Owner assistant | Runs the owner's day-to-day work; the default staff role outside restaurants |
| Waiter | Service and order screens |
| Kitchen | Order board, preparing/ready transitions |
| Platform administrator | The Resto4 team; all businesses and platform settings |
The panel also lists manager, cashier, host and chef roles.
Manager / cashier / host / chef do not grant panel access yet
These four roles appear in the permission matrix and can be assigned to a staff record, but server-side access control currently recognises only owner, owner assistant, waiter and kitchen. An account created with one of these roles cannot enter the panel. If the person will actually work, give them the waiter or kitchen role for now.
Opening a staff account¶
From the Staff page (/{slug}/radmin/staff):
- Enter name, e-mail, a temporary password and a role.
- Save; the employee signs in with those details at
/admin. - Have them change the password on first sign-in.
For someone who leaves, deactivate instead of deleting: the “who took this order” history is preserved, but they can no longer sign in.
The role list depends on the business type
Waiter, kitchen and the other service roles can only be chosen in restaurant businesses. Shops, salons and others only have owner and owner assistant. See Business types.
The permission matrix¶
The matrix on the Settings → Permissions page decides which role may open which panel page. Rows are roles, columns are pages:
Dashboard · Live Orders · Tables · Menu · Stock · Reports · Staff · Settings · Reservations
Every cell toggles with a single click and takes effect immediately.
- The owner sees every page; the matrix does not restrict the owner.
- Staff who type the address of a page they lack permission for are sent back to the panel.
- The matrix only appears in restaurant businesses.
Default permissions and a typical setup:
| Role | Open pages (default) |
|---|---|
| Waiter | Live Orders |
| Kitchen | Dashboard, Orders, Stock |
| Cashier | Live Orders, Reports, Reservations (Stock and Tables QR closed) |
| Host | Reservations |
| Owner assistant | Most pages including Reports; Settings and Staff closed |
The owner can change these on the Settings → Permissions screen.
Who can see what — summary¶
- Changing menu prices, entering payment keys, adding staff: the owner (and the owner assistant, if permitted).
- Revenue and reports: only those with the “Reports” permission. Without it, a waiter cannot see the day's revenue.
- Own performance: the staff tab in accounting shows per-waiter statistics; it too depends on the Reports permission.
Several businesses¶
An owner running several businesses gets the /my-businesses picker after
signing in. The same screen is where an additional business can be requested
from Resto4. Each business has entirely separate menus, staff, stock and
accounting.
