Tables and QR codes

/{slug}/radmin/tables — where you define tables and print their QR codes. It only appears in restaurant businesses.

Adding a table

Type the table name and add it. The name is free text: 1, Garden 3, Terrace A all work. Guests and waiters see this name, so keep it readable.

Tables entered as numbers are listed in numeric order (1, 2, 3 … 10, 11).

Floors

For different dining areas or terraces, create a floor with the Add floor button. Switch between floors using the floor tabs. Add tables to each floor separately; you can drag tables to position them within a floor.

Every table has a state:

State Meaning
Empty No open order
Occupied There is an open order on the table
Locked Table temporarily out of service

Printing the QR code

The print button on a table's row produces that table's own QR code. The code points at an address carrying the table information: when a guest scans it, the system knows which table the order came from.

Practical notes:

  • Laminate the code or put it in a table stand; a worn code will not scan.
  • Write the table name under the QR: a guest at the wrong table will notice.
  • If a table is deleted and re-added, its QR code changes; throw the old print away.

Two main switches

At the top of the page are two switches that apply to the whole business:

QR ordering (on/off)
While off, guests see the menu but cannot order. Turn it off to stop the order flow at a busy moment, or to use Resto4 purely as a digital menu.
Require QR scan
While on, orders can only be placed by scanning a table's QR code. While off, a guest can open the page directly and pick a table. In table-service businesses, keeping it on guarantees orders land on the right table.

Common questions

The order landed on the wrong table. Most likely the guest scanned another table's code, or the tables were moved. Close the order from the service screen and reopen it on the correct table.

A guest says they cannot order. Check in order: is the QR ordering switch on, is the business active, did the guest really come in through a table QR (without table information in the address there is no cart).

I want to delete a table but it has an open order. Close the table from the service screen first, then delete it.
