Orders¶
/{slug}/radmin/orders — the live order board. Every request from a guest or a
waiter lands here immediately.
How the board is laid out¶
There are two columns: awaiting approval and in progress. When a new order arrives a sound plays and the card appears in the left column.
You can filter by table and status; useful for following a single table during a busy service.
Card types¶
You will see four kinds of card:
| Type | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Order | A guest ordered items | Approve, preparing, ready, served |
| Waiter call | A guest called a waiter | Go to the table, close the card |
| Bill — cash | The guest wants to pay cash | Take the bill to the table |
| Bill — card | The guest wants to pay by card | Go to the table with the card terminal |
Order statuses¶
pending → preparing → ready → served
- Pending: sent by the guest, not yet approved. Approving tells the kitchen to start; if a printer is connected, the kitchen ticket prints at this step.
- Preparing: in the kitchen.
- Ready: waiting to be collected. The table turns this colour on the waiter screen.
- Served: delivered to the table.
Advancing a status is one click. If you misclick, managing the order from the service screen is safer than trying to step backwards.
The sound alert¶
A ping plays for new orders, waiter calls and bill requests. The sound activates after the orders page or service view is tapped once (browser rule: sound cannot play on a page that has never been touched). Make tapping the kitchen tablet once at opening time a habit.
Use the 🔔 icon on the orders page to toggle sound on and off. When a new order arrives while the tab is in the background, the tab title flashes 🔔.
Cancelling an order¶
A guest can cancel their own order from their phone while it has not yet gone into preparation. Cancelled orders are counted separately in accounting and do not enter revenue.
Who can see it¶
Roles with the “Orders” permission. Without it, the kitchen tablet stays empty. See Users and roles.
