Till, manager and other roles¶
First, the state of things¶
The panel lists manager, cashier, host and chef roles and they can be assigned to a staff record. But server-side access control currently recognises only four: owner, owner assistant, waiter, kitchen.
An account with these roles cannot enter the panel
If you open an account as cashier or manager, your employee cannot sign in. If they will actually work, give them a suitable role: owner assistant for till and manager duties, waiter for service.
Who does the till work¶
In practice the till flow runs from the Service page, done by a waiter or an owner assistant:
- The guest asks for the bill (cash or card).
- The money is collected.
- Paid — cash / paid — card is marked on the service screen.
- Optionally, the bill is printed.
At the end of the day the cash in the till is compared with the cash total on the Accounting page.
Who does the manager work¶
Give the shift manager the owner assistant role and narrow it from the permission matrix. A common setup:
| Open | Closed |
|---|---|
| Dashboard, Orders, Tables, Stock, Reports | Settings, Staff |
That way the shift manager runs the day without touching payment keys or staff management.
Splitting bills and partial payment¶
The bill-splitting flow on large tables is described on the Service page. With partial payments each portion is marked separately; the table does not close until all are paid.
End-of-day checklist¶
- Any table left open? (Service screen)
- Do the cash and card totals match the till? (Accounting)
- Have the day's expenses been entered?
- Is anything stuck in the print queue?
- Any critical stock warnings — has tomorrow's order been placed?
